The silicon anode technology is at the crossroads of two DoD battery priorities, establishment of a domestic supply chain and development of advanced technologies to replace the current generation of lithium ion batteries. However, the greater energy density of silicon anode batteries also comes with some significant safety concerns.
The MPSC is establishing a forum to address these concerns with an effort that will commence with a meeting on January 18th to discuss and share updates on improving silicon Li-ion cell safety, sharing data and results, and their plans for the year.
We hope to have government representatives present as well to share targets and needs for future silicon Li-ion cell chemistries, and its ability to improve fast charging, high energy density, and low temperature performance, while satisfying the necessary safety requirements.
Please let us know if you can attend and also if you have any information to share so we can build an agenda and plan out the meeting.
Kindly note that participation in this meeting is restricted to MPSC members. If you are not yet a member, you can visit
